Become a Model
Imagine having an exciting high-paying job as a professional model. Imagine walking down a runway at a designer fashion show, or having your photo taken for your favorite magazine.

As a model you may have the opportunity to travel to beautiful locations, be pampered, attend events with celebrities, and earn thousands of rupees a day. Modeling can also lead to many other fabulous opportunities including acting in Feature films.

While a lucky few can become a supermodel, it is possible to have a successful modeling career even if you are not very tall, thin, or young.

Many items sell better when they are promoted by models who look more like "real" people. Consumers want to see what clothes or beauty products look like on someone "just like them." As a result, there are modeling opportunities for people of all shapes and sizes. Which category do you fit into?
  • High fashion modeling
  • Glamour modeling
  • Petite modeling
  • Plus size modeling
  • Teen modeling
  • Mature modeling
  • Body part modeling (hand modeling, etc.)
  • Male modeling
  • Character or ;real people ; modeling

In addition to fashion, models are also needed to advertise a wide variety of products and services - from cars to food. As a model your work may involve:

  • Runway modeling
  • Catalog modeling
  • Showroom modeling
  • Fit modeling
  • Promotional (trade show) modeling
  • Television
  • Feature Films
  • Videos
  • Editorial (magazine and newspaper) modeling
  • Print advertisements

To be a professional model basically comes down to three things:
1) Having the look and talent that someone needs (generally the client) bad enough for the project they are working on at that time that they will pay you for your time.
2) Making life easier for the art director and the photographer so they will want to work with you, and not though you out of their studio.
3) Making sure the client, photographer, and art director know you exist and want to work.

Professional modeling starts with the client's need and their willingness to pay. Modeling with out paying clients is just a hobby or someone trying to rip you off. Having the right look and talent is what you inherited genetically and there is not much you can do to change that. The rest is where being a professional model comes in - knowing what to do and how to market yourself. When a project calls for someone attractive to stand next to a new product, the person who can constantly look good in front of the camera, show the emotional expression that is needed on cue, show up on time and leave on time and in so many other ways make the shoot go quickly, efficiently, and successfully, is the person who will get the job. That is also the person who gets asked back the next time. The part after the genetics is what makes a professional model and leads to a career in modeling. This is also the person who will deliver what the client needs and is why we use them and not just pull someone off the street.

How to Become a Model

A lot of girls and guys want to be a model because it's glamorous and earn more than others. However, it's an extremely competitive and grueling business that will more likely break you than make you. Here are some cold, hard truths about becoming a model, as well as some realistic advice to make it happen.

Steps To become a model

  1. Realize that there are qualities every model needs to have, depending on the type of model one wishes to become. Generally, any feature indicative of good health is a must--clear skin, a full head of hair, and overall symmetry. Other qualities such as height and weight depend on what you're modeling.
  2. Decide what kind of model you'd like to be. Technically, anybody can be a model. However, do remember that if you don't meet certain requirements, the work available to you will be incredibly limited, and you may have to compensate in other departments (reliability, technique, etc).

  3. Get some photos done. These have to be professional.  Photographs are your resume. When an agent looks at your pictures they determine if they want you or not! You need to project emotion in pictures. Pictures capture energy. The more energy you have (confidence...joy)... The more powerful your picture becomes. Avoid group Photos. Although agencies say they are happy with snapshots, that doesn't mean they want to see an out of focus shot of you out partying with your friends with a little note attached saying that you're the one on the right!.
As a bare minimum, you will need one headshot and one body shot.
  4. Register your profile with modelcoordinatorindia.com. It helps spread the word that you're out there. Upload more photographs by logging in your account. Profiles with more photographs will get better results.
  5. Be prepared. When you attend your appointment, they might ask you to pull certain faces like laughing, happy, sad, or seductive. Practice in front of a mirror beforehand. It may help to look at pictures of models in magazines to get an idea. They will ask you to walk and take your measurements, so be prepared for all of that as well.
  6. Be polite and always turn up on time to any appointment or shoot. If you're late or rude, word soon gets around and then nobody will want to work with you.
Best of Luck...
